Last week Amy and I bit the bullet and decided to go all in with smartphones and unlimited data plans -- its Verizon, so unlimited is out only and required option. Its been a week and after the initial flurry of getting accustomed to new hardware and looking for all the little fun and productive apps that we just have to have, I am now starting to settle into life with a smartphone.

Its pretty cool, to say the least. Not only do I have access to all the little time-wasting sites I frequent at work, but I am connected to the social circles that span from Facebook to Twitter to various forums, websites and plain old e-mail. Its always in my pocket and always available. Quite powerful, if you ask me.

Just the other day, I caught while shopping. I was looking at two blister-packed pens: a calligraphy pen and a fountain pen. I was perplexed as to what the difference was and anxious because I wanted to walk out of the store with one of them. I just didn't know which one was "right". My initial thought was to check the internet when I got home, but then like a message directly from God, my phone buzzed -- it was a notification that I had a direct message on my Twitter account -- and I realized that the internet was in my pocket. I performed a search and immediately had a selection of data to determine just what the difference was. And then I made my purchase.

I am sure there will be a multitude of other moments like this, that will make my $30/month data plan invaluable to me.

As Anti-Cellphone as I am, I have had my motorola cliq for about four or five months now, and it's indisposable (sp)?

I am really happy with it, and it makes life considerably easier. I even went so far as to download the ide for developing Android applications. Friggen amazing!

Android is pretty sweet, an since is based on Linux, you know I love it even that much more. I've read about how easy it is to develop apps for android. Although, with close to 100,000 out there, its going to be tough to make a mark...
