deek's World

I didn't neglect this, but since I didn't have anything special planned, I didn't want to make too big a deal about it. But, on May 3, 2010, deek's World has been alive and chugging for 5 years. Yay!

And, it really couldn't have happened without the great group of forum members we have. Just to do a little reminiscing, we've had nice little runs of activity. The site has 48 members with over 23,000 posts in more than 3000 topics. We've had fun with Zobmondo, Trivia, Book Clubs, Photography Clubs and even a few months of our own Biggest Loser competitions.

The board has been upgraded a couple times and we've gone through a couple design changes. Back in 2005, we only had 15 users and I'd say that about half of them have stuck through, even though I still haven't done my initial T-shirt run and still owe a few of you a shirt!

With the advent of social media, mainly Facebook, I think a lot of people here that would normally have hung out and posted, have found connections with much more people. Its sad to think that forums as we know them today could be in a decline, but I think that more and more people will find places like Facebook and Twitter, access them 24/7 with their smartphones and not spend as much time in front of a computer posting on forums.

But, I'll stick with it. Today, deek's World is host to a half dozen people that enjoy playing games here on a daily basis. There are occasional post under Movies, TVs and Gaming, and for me, that is more than enough to keep on moving forward. Heck, if it wasn't for deek's World, I'd be a lot more bored while I sit at my desk at work!

So, thank you, old and new members, for making this a site I enjoy coming to every day!
